PERFORMING ARTS

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents life-affirming classic and contemporary plays in repertory, with Shakespeare as their cornerstone. These plays are enhanced by interactive festival experiences which entertain, enrich, and educate.  The Festival is held during the summer and fall on the campus of Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah.

The Gerrit de Jong, Jr., Concert Hall is the largest room in the HFAC located at BYU College of Fine Arts and Communications, (Brigham Young University (BYU)). It is used for high-quality recordings and live film productions of musical events, concerts of the major choral and instrumental organizations, musical theatre productions of the opera workshop, special lyceums and for official meetings of the college or University. The de Jong Concert Hall is beautifully designed, aesthetically and acoustically. Its seats are arranged in continental seating style with no center aisles.  This functional, handsome facility seats 1,268.

The Utah Arts Festival is the state’s largest outdoor festival celebrating the fine arts as well as multiple arts disciplines. The Festival features an artist marketplace, music and performing arts, film, street theater, literary arts and the 80,000 patrons who attend each June to revel at Library Square in the heart of Salt Lake City. (Instagram)

The Utah Symphony is a full-time orchestra in Salt Lake City, Utah. It has become a vital presence on the American music scene through its distinctive performances worldwide. The orchestra performs in Abravanel Hall (in downtown Salt Lake City near Temple Square), which is acclaimed as one of the world’s great concert halls – having won awards for both its architecture and its extraordinary acoustics.

Capitol Theatre is known today for its elegant turn-of-the century architecture and serves as the home for Ballet West, Utah Opera, Children’s Dance Theatre, and Broadway Across America -Utah. The Capitol hosts a wide variety of events each season. It brings a range of different spectacles to the heart of Salt Lake City throughout the week, from Broadway shows to classical music and dance performances. This multi-purpose venue also hosts local auditions for hugely popular television talent competitions.

Kingsbury Hall is a center for the performing arts located on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City, Utah. It presents an eclectic season of performing arts you won’t see anywhere else. Performances feature some of the world’s best musicians, dancers, and even acrobats. Many of the local performing companies got their start at Kingsbury Hall.

The Eccles Theater (George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater) is a 2,500-seat theater in Salt Lake City that will host national touring Broadway, concerts, comedy and other popular entertainment events; while the multi-use Black Box will see innovative local performances and community events. The six-story Grand Lobby will hold public art and events on the outdoor plaza will energize Regent Street. Encore, a full service bistro operated by Cuisine Unlimited, will round out the experience at the Eccles Theater.

The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, opened in 1997, is a three-venue arts complex in downtown Salt Lake City  (500-seat Jeanné Wagner Theatre, 180-seat Leona Wagner Black Box Theatre, and 75-seat Studio Theatre) is home to various performing arts organizations, such as Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation, Plan-B Theatre Company, Pygmalion Theatre Company and Wasatch Theatre Company and the Sundance Film Festival. It is part of the Salt Lake County Center for the Arts.
